Q: Why does Scoot apply a processing fee to certain bookings?
A: A processing fee may apply to bookings for flights departing from selected countries or regions. The fee helps cover some of the costs of supporting secure and reliable payment options across different payment channels. Processing fees are non-refundable.
Q: Does the processing fee apply to all bookings?
A: No. The processing fee applies to most transactions made through FlyScoot.com, the Scoot mobile app, and online travel agencies for flights departing from Singapore, Japan, Taiwan (China), Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, China and India.
Some payment methods are exempt, including Scoot vouchers and KrisFlyer miles where accepted.
Q: How is the processing fee calculated?
A: The processing fee is calculated based on the total transaction value, including fares, add-ons, taxes and other applicable charges. For most bookings, the fee is charged as a percentage of the total transaction amount. The percentage varies by departure country and payment method and is typically between 2.3% and 2.8%.
For flights departing from Vietnam, a fixed processing fee of VND95,000 per booking applies.
For flights departing from India, a fixed processing fee of INR450 per booking applies, subject to local GST.
Any applicable processing fee will be shown before payment is completed.
Q: Are there payment methods that do not incur a processing fee?
A: Yes. No processing fee applies when a booking is paid in full using certain payment methods, where available, including:
- PayNow
- Scoot vouchers
- KrisFlyer miles
Additional fee-free payment methods are available in some markets:
- Japan: Konbini / Pay-Easy
- Thailand: PromptPay
